In 2024, 3,764 foreign nationals were naturalized in the German state of Brandenburg, the highest number registered in over 20 years. While the figure usually stood below 1,000 in the previous 20 years, it has markedly increased in the past few years. The Ministry revealed that in 2022, 1,195 were naturalized in the German Federal state of Brandenburg.

The majority of naturalized nationals in 2024 were Syrian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Iranian nationals. In Brandenburg, naturalization increased from 43 in 2022 to 139 in 2024. The process of processing German Citizenship will take around 20 months from submission.

Berlin has also registered an increase in citizenships granted in 2024. More than 21,000 foreign nationals were naturalized in Berlin from January 2024. According to the State officer, Germany aims to achieve 40,000 naturalizations. The goal can be achieved if 3,000 naturalizations are completed monthly.
