Details about the New Zealand Announcement about Work Visa:

New Zealand announced making significant changes to the AEWV. New Zealand will take five initiatives to promote fairness and transparency in employment through employment work visas. These initiatives will be valid from October 2023.

 Further Details of the New Zealand Work Visa Five Initiatives

 The five initiatives are: 

  • Removal of 90-Day Trial Periods: From 29 October 2023, New Zealand ensured that there would be no 90-day trial period in employment agreement while hiring by AEWV. 
  • AEWV Job Check Application: After 29 October 23, the trial employment type would be declined, regardless of the submission date. 
  • AEWV Employer Accreditation Updates: After 29 October 23, the technical updates were made to immigration instructions to clarify the suspension process of an employer’s accreditations under the AEWV.  
  • AEWV Labour Hire Employment Threshold Change: From 27 November 23, the employer needs to ensure that the 35% labor hire should be from New Zealand.
  • Increased Processing Times: INZ adjusted the processing time to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the job vacancies and also to support intended migrant hires.
