Department of Home Affairs in Australia regularly updates the Skilled Occupation Lists. The list is not limited to just White Collar jobs such as Engineers, Doctors, and Lawyers. Several Trades jobs are also a part of the Australia SOL. These include Electrician, Plumber, Bricklayer, Carpenter, Cabinetmaker, and Joiner & Carpenter.
The skilled trades’ workers are in huge demand in Australia. This is owing to the booming development in major cities of the Land Down Under. The latest report has revealed that these jobs have earned a huge hike in wages.
The service hiring website Service Seeking Au has revealed the 2018 Rich List for Trades Jobs. It observes that Removalists in NSW – New South Wales gained the highest hourly wage increase. The increase was 76% for them at 95.21$ per hour, as quoted by the Business Tech.
Plumbers and Electricians across Australia also feature prominently in the list. They have an average hourly pay at 87 $ and 77$ respectively. Both these occupations also feature on the Australia SOL. It also includes Plasterers and Joiners.
Plumbers also recorded a strong hike in hourly wages with 3.1% or 87$ per hour.
There are specific skills that enhance the wages for Electricians. These include SAP PM - SAP Plant Maintenance, PLC - Programmable Logic Controllers, Switching and Routing, Artisan, and Plant Maintenance.
