Australia Skilled Occupation List is expected to be altered from July 1st, 2018. The Jobs and Small Business Department in Australia is the authority that periodically reviews the SOL. This includes Short-term SOL, Long-term and Medium SOL and as well as Regional SOL.
The SOLs serve as a reference for immigration of skilled workers. The hiring is done under RSMS, ENS, and TSS Visa categories, as quoted by the Australian.
The Prime Minister of Australia and Immigration Minister had promulgated reforms to the Provisional and Permanent Skilled Visas in the Employer-sponsored categories in April 2017. This was aimed at addressing the aim of assisting the immigration programs to cater to the social and economic priorities of the nation.
The reforms launched the Short-term and Long-term SOLs. These identified the jobs that were available for hiring provisional and permanent skilled workers. Additional changes were made effective to the SOLs by the Immigration Minister on July 1st, 2017.
The Employment Department is coordinating with the Home Affairs Department as well as other concerned Departments of Australian governments. This is to offer recommendations to the Government for updating of MLTSSL and STSOL.
The updates will be for every 6 months that would focus on the below principles:
• Stakeholder consultation process
• Appropriate analysis and rigorous labor market proof
To conclude, the lists will be available for public on July 1, 2018.
