Australia updates Skills Assessment Requirements for Trade Occupations

Australia has updated the requirements of skills assessment for Trade occupations:

• Requirements for Pathway 1: Absence of Occupational license or Australian qualification

Applicants must demonstrate minimum 4 years experience in the required skill level in the occupation. The 4 years period also includes training. The proof must show that the applicant has worked in the same occupation for minimum 6 months within the last 36 months. It must also be verifiable, as quoted by the SMH.

• Requirements for Pathway 1: Presence of Occupational license or Australian qualification

Applicant must demonstrate minimum 3 years of work experience in the required skill level in the occupation. The proof must show that the applicant has worked in the same occupation for minimum 1 year in the last 3 years. This must also be verifiable. For applicants who are applying for a current occupational license in Australia, the 1-year employment must be within Australia.

Skilled immigration to Australia mandates the assessment of skills being done. This is applicable for Temporary Graduate, Points Tested, Graduate Migrant, and Employer Sponsored Visas.
