Australia will set new English linguistic standards for overseas students

Overseas students in Australia will have to satisfy new language standards for English from 2018 to ensure that they are equipped for higher education. The requirements will be applicable for training, vocational and university courses. For 2015-16, overseas students generated export income of more than more than 15.6 billion USD. This was an increase of 8% over the previous year. Tertiary institutions and universities made up for more than 50% of this income. The statistics were revealed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. According to the Universities Australia industry group, overseas education also supports more than 130,000 jobs in Australia.
