  • In 2023, the net overseas migration grew by 60 percent compared to the previous year, 2022.
  • As per the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS),last year the migration helped the Australian population to grow 26.8 million.
  • The Australian population increased by 2.5 percent — or 659,800 people in 12 months till 30 September 2023.
  • The net overseas migration accounted for 83 per cent of that growth.

Details of Overseas Immigration in Australia:

Last year, overseas migration accounted for 83 percent of the growth. There were 765,900 overseas migration arrivals and 217,100 departures, resulting in Australia’s population growth of 548,800 people.

 

Over 12-month period, there were 295,000 births and 183,900 deaths that were registered in Australia.
