The BC PNP or British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program stream closed its operations on October 12, 2022, and will resume on November 16, 2022.

Changes in NOC

Canada plans to implement the TEER code instead of the NOC Code in November 2022. It will use a five-digit code instead of a 4 digit number to classify each occupation.

In the five-digit code, the government of Canada examines the levels of skill in each occupation. It is classified into 6 categories for better comprehension in the level of TEER, that is, training, education, experience, and responsibilities for each job.

The new classification for jobs in Canada is given below:

Skill Type/Level TEER Category
Skill Type 0 TEER 0
Skill level A TEER 1
Skill level B TEER 2 and TEER 3

IRCC or Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada evaluates the existing practice of NOC every 10 years. Every territory and province of Canada use the NOC to identify employment needs that can be filled by immigration programs.
