The British Columbia technology worker stream has boosted the number of newcomers to enhance the Canadian economy. The tech stream of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program permits potential immigrants to work in Canada while their Canada PR application is in process. The process is streamlined and employers can access it easily to find workers for a long list of 29 occupations whose NOC code will be changed to the TEER code.

The main competitor of British Columbia is the Human Capital Priorities stream in Ontario Immigration Nominee Program. Ontario holds tech draws under the HCP stream but the invitations are limited to six occupations.

Processing of applications under the Global Talent stream for 12 occupations is two weeks and employers have to get access to this program to invite foreign skilled workers. Employers find it difficult to get access to this program.
Comparatively, BC has a long list of occupations and employers can easily access it to invite tech workers. The stream usually invites skilled workers and international graduates.
