Another draw under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that helps skilled workers to migrate to Canada was conducted recently. This time the PNP Tech Pilot took place in British Columbia.
The latest British Columbia invitation drive for skilled workers was conducted on March 10, 2020. Invitations were sent across 5 British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) streams of the province. A total of 332 invitations were sent to candidates. They can now apply for being provincially nominated by British Columbia for Canada permanent residency.
The points needed to qualify for provincial skilled workers was fixed at 102. Skilled workers via Express Entry needed 110 points to qualify.
International graduates were also included in the scope of invitations. These graduates who arrive through the direct provincial streams needed a minimum of 106 points to qualify. The minimum points needed for entry-level and semi-skilled workers was 83 points.

The British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot was launched in 2017. As of this year, it has a list of 29 target occupations. These have relaxed duration requirements. The PNP draws meant specifically for technology workers was started in May 2017. The PNP gives candidates great opportunities as the province has a thriving technology industry. Some big names of the tech industry are based out of this province.

The provincial nomination could be a guarantee for selection under the Canada Express Entry system. This is because 600 points get added to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidate.
The British Columbia immigration has also announced replacing of publishing scores for assured invitations. This will be replaced with the facility for candidates to see the scores needed by viewing the weekly published draw details. The available draw details are from 2016 onwards. This was when the province launched its version of immigration via Expression of Interest.
