On June 9, 2020, British Columbia (BC) held its latest PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) draw. 87 candidates were invited by BC PNP to apply for Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories.
82 was the minimum provincial score required for candidates in each category.
It's necessary that candidates have their profiles in the federal Express Entry system to get an invitation via the Express Entry BC category.
These profiles are ranked based on human capital factors like education, age, work experience, and proficiency in English or French.
Candidates who get provincial nomination will be awarded 600 extra points on their original CRS score. This will effectively make sure that the candidate will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Permanent Residence in Canada as is the practice in Canada immigration.
BC has announced that it will extend its Tech Pilot till June 2021. The Tech Pilot is a path set for skilled foreign workers in the tech field to join any of the 28 listed occupations in BC. The job offer must be at least a year long. There needs to be a minimum of 120 days left in the job when the candidate submits an application to BC.
