To address the persisting shortage in the workforce in various departments, the Canadian government lifted the limit on the number of hours worked for foreign students, now they can work for unlimited hours off-campus while studying.
From November 15, the post-secondary international students will be able to work for as many hours as they want by not restricting them to 20 hours per week. Though this is a temporary measure, the validity is till December 31, 2023.
This new measure is also applicable to the Study permit applicants that are already submitted after approval. This new measure will help the students to gain Canadian work experience and can become an asset to the Canadian workforce shortage.
With the fast-growing economy, Canada looks at every option to hire new workers who have gained skills and are ready to address the current workforce shortage. Currently, Canada sees immigration as one of the crucial steps to address the current workforce shortage.

This year, till August, Canada processes 450,000+ study permit applications. This was around 367,000 in 2021 during the same period.
