IRCC first announced the opening of the new immigration pilots for homecare workers on June 3, 2024. On June 17, 2024, Canada closed the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot; the new Homecare Worker Immigration Pilot will replace the previous caregiver immigration pathways.
An applicant must fulfill the eligibility criteria to apply for this new enhanced care worker pilot:
Note: As announced on June 16, 2024, Candidates for the previous homecare worker immigration program only require 6 months of eligible experience to qualify for the PR. However, IRCC has yet to announce further details and eligibility requirements.

According to the Immigration Level plan of 2025-26, IRCC has allocated 10,920 new immigrant admission spots through Federal Economic Pilots under which the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot will fall. Though IRCC has not declared the pilot allocation, IRCC will have to divide these 10,920 new immigration admissions for 2025 between:
