Abstract: IRCC has announced that the rules of distance learning would be followed till August 31, 2023.
International students who chose to study in Canada had the option to continue their course online, during the pandemic. They could study while living out of the country and were eligible for the Canada PGWP or post-graduation work permit.
IRCC or Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada announced on August 25, 2022, that distance learning measures be followed till August 31, 2023. It would give international students adequate time to return to Canada.

International students in Canada who have submitted an application for a study permit before August 31, 2022, will be able to continue to complete their entire program online, without hampering their eligibility for a PGWP. It facilitates international students to work in Canada.
Before the pandemic, students could complete at least 50 percent of their courses online. The time spent studying online, out of Canada was not considered part of their study program, thus affecting their PGWP eligibility.
The study program completed from outside Canada from September 1, 2023, will not be considered from their PGWP requirements, irrespective of when the course began.
