A Canada PR visa is required to get permanent residence and enjoy the benefits of holding the next best status to Canadian citizenship. Let’s see 3 major Canada immigration programs that are popular among aspiring immigrants around the world.

Canada Express Entry

It's one of the most sought-after as well as popular ways of immigrating to Canada. The plus points of this immigration system are its simple process and quick processing times.

Under Canada Express Entry, there are 3 immigration streams via which you can come to Canada. They are:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which is for foreign nationals with a history of work in Canada for at least a year.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), which is for skilled tradespeople from overseas.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), which is for applicants having significant experience working overseas and/or have high-level education.

You have to first assess your eligibility for applying to the Canada Express Entry system for creating a profile of yours. You can use the Canada points calculator to do a self-evaluation.

In Express Entry, there’s a points system that looks at your profile created online and gives you a score assigned by CRS. The points are given for factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills.

If your score in total comes to a minimum of 67 out of 100, you are eligible for applying for a Canada PR visa via Express Entry. The higher your scores, the better your chances of getting invited to apply for a Canada PR Visa.

The decision on applications for permanent residence is made within a short time of 6 months.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

It’s not just at the federal level that pathways for Canada immigration are set for you. Canadian provinces have their own PNPs that are meant to find the most suitable skilled immigration candidates to immigrate to Canada and live and work in the particular province.

Canada PNP is meant for these categories of individuals:

  • Those who have the education, skills, and work experience that will enable them to contribute to the growth of a certain province’s economy
  • Those who are desirous of settling in a particular Canadian province/territory permanently
  • Those who want to own a Canada PR visa and become a permanent resident in Canada

So, why is PNP recommended? Canada PNP is a system under which Canadian provinces nominate immigration candidates and it grants 600 CRS points to those who accept the nomination. With those extra points, even those candidates who have low overall CRS scores making them incapable of competing for selection at a federal level can suddenly reach out for the opportunity to apply for a Canada PR visa.

Moreover, PNP provides various immigration streams targeting different categories of immigrants such as fresh graduates, businesspeople, professionals, and/or skilled/semi-skilled workers. This creates the right opportunities for you to attempt Canada immigration via Canadian provinces.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot

If you are a skilled foreigner or an international student in Canada interested in living and working in one of the Atlantic provinces of Canada, the AIP is a pathway for you. The Atlantic provinces include New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador.

The AIP offers benefits similar to any PNP. There are 3 programs under AIP that can be used to apply for a Canada PR visa:

  • Atlantic High-Skilled Program, which is for those foreigners who are holding a job offer from an employer who is participating in AIP to find the right workers from overseas. This employer will belong to one of the Atlantic provinces.
  • Atlantic International Graduate Program, which is meant for those foreign individuals who have lived and studied in an Atlantic province.
  • Atlantic Intermediate –Skilled Program, which is for those foreigners who have received a job offer from an Atlantic province employer who’s participating in AIP. Under this program, you will need work experience in occupations of NOC skill level C, or selected occupations in NOC skill level B, or A.

Explore these pathways for Canada immigration and find a better future in Canada.
