On June 11, 2020, a new Express Entry round was conducted for Canada immigration in which 3,559 invitations were issued.
The invitation round was special in that it featured the lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) as a cut-off score in 2020. The lowest CRS score ever required in 2020 was 440. This was applied in the draw that took place on May 28, 2020.
The CRS cut-off score in the June 11 draw was further down at 437 points.
The latest draw sent invitations to apply (ITA) to candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
On June 10, 2020, another set of ITAs was sent to Express Entry candidates who were nominated through the PNP (Provincial Nomination Program). The minimum CRS score for the 341 candidates in that draw was set at 743 points.
As the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is inviting a lot of CEC-specific candidates, the trend of lowering CRS cut-off scores has been on.
Frequent immigration draws acts as a major reason for lowering CRS scores. This is because fewer candidates will get the time to submit their profiles into the Express Entry system.
The Express Entry system manages the profiles of candidates who fall under 3 main economic-class immigration programs. These are:
The profiles in the Express Entry system are ranked on the basis of human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, and skills in English or French language.
A certain number of candidates who rank high will get ITAs via regular draws by the IRCC.
IRCC aims at processing their applications for permanent residence within 6 months.
IRCC applied a tie-break rule in this draw. The date and time used was May 25, 2020, at 00:31:43 UTC. This implies that all CEC candidates with a minimum CRS score of 437 and have submitted their profile prior to this date and time, got an ITA in this round of invitations.
The total ITAs issued this year yet comes to 46,000 with this draw. This is more than what was issued last year at the same time of the year.
In the past 2 months, there has been a total of 13 CEC and PNP draws conducted by IRCC.
