The immigration system in Canada has been increasing tremendously so far, in 2022. The recent data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reveals that, in the first seven months of 2022, the country invited 274,980 new permanent residents.
This progress is said to push Canadian immigration forward, reaching 471,394 new permanent residents in 2022.
Ottawa planned to invite new permanent residents under Canada’s immigration levels plan for 2022-2024.

Canada set to welcome over 500,000 newcomers this summer
Looking at the current speed of immigration, it is predicted that Canada will not only exceed its proposed target for the years 2022 and 2023 but even for 2024, up by 4.5 percent.
The Century Initiative mainly focuses on Canadian population growth which is essential for the prosperity and growth of the country’s economy.
This non-profit organization believes that population growth of up to 100 million by the end of the year 2100, will reduce the pressure on government revenues. This is further expected to support old age security, healthcare, and other services.
In 2019, the Century Initiative proposed a certain target for 2022-2025 and is set to invite 500,000 residents in the year 2026.

IRCC revealed an estimation of 30,238 asylum seekers who arrived in Canada and claimed themselves as refugees through unauthorized border crossings in the first six months of 2022.
