How can an Electrical Engineer migrate to Canada?

There are various immigration paths for Electrical Engineers wanting to migrate to Canada. The two most favored pathways are:

  • Express Entry
  • Provincial Nomination Program

1. Express Entry System

The most prominent pathway is the Express Entry program. In this program, candidates need to register their profiles online by providing their accurate details. Candidates do not need to have a job offer to apply to be chosen, though a job offer in hand intensifies their odds of being selected.

Since the program is easy and fast, it allows Electrical Engineers to seamlessly migrate to Canada. When they register their profiles on the Express Entry system, the individuals must meet the following eligibility conditions:

  • Age
  • Academic credentials
  • Employment experience
  • Evidence of sufficient funds
  • Meeting language requirements of either English or French
  • Capability to integrate into the society of Canada

The profile must be accordingly filled in fewer than 60 days. Consequently, the profile would be entered into the pool for a draw. A candidate is rated against other applicants in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The points are granted on the basis of satisfying certain requirements.

If candidates get or top the cut-off scores, they get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada’s permanent residencies (PRs).

The Express Entry is additionally split into three immigration streams. They are:

Electrical Engineers are categorized under the FSWP, via the Skill type A and a TEER code of 21310.

2. Provincial Nomination Program

Canada’s government developed Provincial Nomination Program which supports the provinces and territories of Canada to tackle workforce shortages and the financial requirements. The provinces and territories governments work with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to recommend foreign immigrants to work and settle in a particular province of Canada.

The provinces propose names only through the Express Entry system because the profiles have to be approved by the Canadian government. Candidates need to meet the particular requirements of the province/s they have applied in order to qualify for this program. Candidates are awarded 600 600 points by the PNP in their CRS scores.

Meanwhile, more points increase the odds of getting a Canada PR. Electrical engineers can apply in the following provinces:
