How can a Marine Engineer migrate to Canada?

For a Marine Engineer, there are three main immigration pathways to migrate to Canada.

  • Express Entry
  • RNIP or Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot
  • PNP or Provincial Nomination Program

Express Entry

The Express Entry is additionally split into three immigration streams. They are:

Marine Engineering is categorized under Foreign Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). They are having good chances of getting  Canada PR visa through Express Entry system. Candidates need to have their work experience, ECA, evaluated by the Canada Marine Engineering Skills and Qualification Assessment. The evaluation helps in skills assessment and improves the CRS score for Express Entry and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) applications. It also helps to pass the Canada Equivalent Qualification, which is valid for professional registrations. A favourable report of the review of Marine Engineering abilities indicates that the candidate is eligible to work upon arrival in Canada.

RNIP (Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot)

A community-based program, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is intended to provide the advantages of economic immigration in minor communities. It also aids to create avenues for Canada PR for internationally trained workers, who are wishing to work and settle in one of the partaking provinces or territories.

The following are the steps one needs to stay on to apply for Canada’s permanent residency under this pilot program.

    • IRCC eligibility
    • Community-specific
  • Eligible job offers from employers in any one of the provinces or territories that are participating.
  • Application submission for endorsement to the participating community.
  • Permanent residence application after consent from the participating areas.

PNP (Provincial Nomination Program)

Canada PNP is a decent alternative to the Express Entry. The provincial nominee programs prove helpful to:

  • Applicants who failed to meet the eligibility criteria are eligible for Canada PR.
  • Candidates who failed to get the required score in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) are to be granted the Express Entry Pool invitations to apply (ITAs).
  • The PNP program allows the provincial government to pick up immigrant candidates to fulfil the demographic or economic requirements of the province or territory. It provides candidates with opportunities to apply for Canada PR.
  • Candidates, with a proper nomination from a province or territory, stand more chances of getting an ITA. After obtaining ITAs, the candidates are well-positioned to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
