Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)
For more than a decade, the Super Visa has been provided as an alternative to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). The PGP provides permanent residence, and the demand for sponsors surpasses the number of spots available because of its popularity it holds.
The IRCC receives the interest from 200,000 sponsors in a specific given year but provides immigration spots through the PGP. From the outcome, the IRCC has temporarily opened an expression of interest windows for the PGP in recent years.
Fundamentally, the Super Visa is made available to those who pass a medical examination and provide proof of private health insurance from an approved insurance provider. This is offered to get emergency health care in Canada without the expenses being paid for by Canadian taxpayers. Additionally, the children or grandchildren of the host must meet the minimum income requirements of the IRCC.
The immigration minister, Sean Fraser in his words...
Sean Fraser, the Immigration Minister of Canada, stated that the “families live in Canadian society's heart. The inflation to the super visa program permits the family members to reunite for a more extended period in Canada, which helps the Canadian citizens and permanent residents contribute and succeed in society daily.”
