Canada reports a record-high job vacancy rate of 5.7 percent or more than one million in the second half of 2022. The demand for labor has increased to a great extent, leaving Canada with a high number of job vacancies.

In the first quarter of 2022, the total number of job vacancies increased by over 186,400 at 22.6 percent in Canada.

1 Million job vacancies in Canada

According to the results of Statistics Canada, the Job Vacancy and Wage Survey reported an increase of 4.7 percent in job vacancies, compared to the first half of 2022 and 42.3 percent more than the second half of 2021.

Canada is experiencing record-high job vacancies of over one million or a total of 5.7 percent in most of the sectors. These vacant job roles are proportional to the labor demand in the country.

In comparison with the payroll employment growth from the first quarter of 2020, the labor demand has increased to a great extent. This is one of the major reasons why Canada is currently experiencing an all-time high number of job vacancies.
