The Temporary Foreign Worker Program is a temporary Canada work visa that provides opportunities to work in Canada for a short period. The Temporary Foreign Workers in Canada program is an Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) program that addresses the labor shortage market through immigration. Through LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment), the employer hires a temporary foreign worker (TFW) to work in Canada. The TFW is valid for only six months.
Under this program, which further contains agriculture streams, live-in caregiver streams, and high and low-wage foreign worker streams, they would be hired by a Canadian company as a worker in Canada. The foreign workers are allowed to work for one employer only.
Later, through the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), the Canadian government will process the application and the document on whether to allow the Canada PR or citizen to move ahead with the work. LMIA needs to approve the work permit or the application might be refused.
