• IRCC is going to process the extra H1-B open work permit applications that they received on the cap
• IRCC will abide by the new policy under which Canada will process the extra H1-B visa application
• From March 18, 2024, the application fee for minors in H1-B visa holders is reduced.
• Canada launched an immigration initiative in the Tech sector to attract temporary workers in the United States.

Details of the new policy under which IRCC will process applications:

Here is the detail of the new policy:

 

• A little number of applications were received, more than the cap as it was submitted on July 17, 2023
• Applications were received by immigration representatives on behalf of applicants and family members through the Authorized Paid Representatives Portal before the cap was reached on July 17, 2023.
• Application of work permits, which includes family members who have already applied for a work permit or who will apply for one in the next 12 months.

Canada introduced Tech talent to attract Workers:

In 2023, IRCC launched a new immigration program to bring a Tech Talent Strategy to attract temporary workers in Tech sectors in the United States. The United States is looking for qualified employers to fill their job market.

 

Canada's first-ever immigration tech talent strategy targets newcomers who will rise as leaders in up-growing technology.

 

The Tech Talent Strategy is collaboration between start-ups and business communities created on July 16, 2023. The open work permit stream targeted international workers working in the United States with H1-B specialty occupation visas.

 

This stream also provides Canadian work permits and study permits to workers' family members.

 

IRCC has already received 10,000 applications without family members within one day during the cap.
