Canada’s citizenship test for a transition from Canada PR to a Canadian citizen will now be available online. IRCC will test the platform for the next few months. Simultaneously, the online test will be made available to those who had their test canceled due to COVID-19. The online version of the test will also be made available to those who are on the waiting list.
IRCC will make sure that the platform is reliable by monitoring its performance. More people will be in all possibility be invited to take the test in 2021. Test-takers must:
The applicants for citizenship will have 21 days to complete the test. They can appear for the online exam at any convenient time.
Online testing is a part of IRCC’s efforts to modernize the citizenship program.
Test-takers or their representative will be notified of the results via email. The online test is not only a more convenient option but also the only method to take the test now in the absence of in-person tests.
IRCC affirms that around 85,000 people are waiting to take the citizenship test, as of September 7, 2020.
