IELTS and CELPIP are the 2 major English proficiency tests that are to be attended by candidates attempting to get Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada.
Canada approves of these tests and use these scores to determine the eligibility of a candidate by looking at his/her profile in the Express Entry pool.
Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak happened and Canada imposed restrictions, only essential services have been allowed to be conducted. Because of this, many candidates lost the opportunity to give IELTS and CELPIP tests.
Now, test takers can access IELTS and CELPIP test centers at many locations in the world. Immigrants to Canada from major sourcing countries now have these test centers opened to reach out and give their exams.
The test centers for IELTS are now reopened in 72 countries from June 15,2020. These include Canada immigration’s major sourcing countries like:
Temporary foreign workers, international students, and other temporary residents and visitors at present in Canada can book their IELTS now in provinces across the country. These include British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.
The test centers for CELPIP are also open in 6 countries from June 15, 2020. Tests can be taken from:
It is recommended that after completing the test, the process of submitting application should be done as soon as possible.
For those outside Canada, there is a big chance to get a provincial nomination which can almost seal your chances at obtaining a permanent residence.
Also, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will also in time hold draws Federal Skilled Trades Program and Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates. Candidates who have profiles in the Express Entry pool will then get the benefit when these draws are conducted.
Those candidates within Canada stand a better chance at getting an invitation to apply for permanent residence. This could happen within days of submitting profile in the Express Entry pool.
It must be remembered that the cut-off scores needed for PNP and CEC draws that were recently conducted have decreased to lowest levels since 2017. This is the best time to migrate to Canada.
