Overview

The CEC is one of the Express Entry's programs and is applicable for those foreign nationals who have one-year work experience in full-time or part-time in Canada.  Candidates also have to meet the requirements like:

• Having job opportunity within Canada
• Language, and
• Having plans to reside outside Quebec (as this francophone province does not participate in the CEC) because of its separate immigration profile.

About the CEC program

Sean Fraser, the Immigration Minister, stated that Canada is set to welcome new immigration candidates to apply for permanent residents through the Express Entry system that began in July, along with the skilled newcomers who already reside in Canada on temporary status. It has been nine months since Canada's previous draw through the Express Entry system under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program changed in July 2022. The Express Entry program paves an essential pathway for determining the immigrants. According to the latest Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada figure, 36,475 new permanent residents of Canada had settled in the country with the help of the CEC program in 2021.

Canada set to welcome 61,710 new permanent residents

In the first quarter of 2022, 20,570 new permanent residents were invited under the CEC program, and it is expected that Canada will be inviting 61,710 new permanent residents under the CEC program by the end of 2022. The CEC immigration program is Express Entry's one of the three programs and is applicable for those foreign nationals who have one-year work experience in full-time or part-time, meet the requirements like:

• Minimum language proficiency level for the job
• Planning to reside outside Quebec (as this francophone province does not participate in the CEC, because of its immigration department).

CEC eligibility criteria

The applicants should have a minimum of one year full-time or part-time work experience in the last three years and the total working hours should be as follows:

Part time	1,560 hours (combination of part-time jobs)
