New Caregiver pilot programs

Canada announced new caregiver pilot programs as an alternative to the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot, which will expire on June 17, 2024. The new program will grant home care workers with a Canada PR after arriving in the country.

Eligible Criteria for the new caregiver pilot programs

To be eligible for the caregiver pilot programs:

• Must have acquired CLB level 4
• Must have an equivalent Canadian High school diploma
• Must receive an offer letter for a full-time home care job
• Have recent and relevant work experience

Caregivers in Canada

As per the 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada plans to welcome more than 15,000 new permanent residents through the Caregiver pilot program. Through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot, around 5,700 caregivers and their family members became permanent residents of Canada till April 30, 2024.
