Croatia is planning to introduce more relaxed regulations for foreign workers. The country introduced a more straightforward accommodation procedure and extended the residence and work permits from the current one year to three years.
By extending the residence and work permit, the country wants to offer an easier transition from one job position to another and make it simpler to change employers.

Despite Croatia having many foreign workers, the country continues to deal with shortages in several fields.
Each month, Croatia issued around 20,000 work permits to Non-EU workers to deal with the shortage. While different parts of Croatia need foreign workers, Istria is constantly in shortage.
In Croatia, there is a shortage of around 30 occupations. Foreigners who have acquired jobs on the shortage list have increased chances of obtaining a work visa and entering the country for work purposes.
