If you are interested to travel to Europe, here’s a quick update on which countries are welcoming people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This is significant information as it will help you learn which countries are open to visit so that you can take the chance to get what you missed out on ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

Countries across the world are trying to do their best to ensure that travel is safe to their country. They want to ensure that their countrymen are safe from infections from travelers arriving from abroad. This is especially true of European countries.

European countries are looking for better and more effective measures to ensure that there won’t be another wave of COVID-19 infections. But in the same stead, these countries also want to resume travel and migration to bounce back from the COVID-19 crisis. Many EU countries are now exempting fully vaccinated travelers from entry requirements like testing and quarantine.

The permission to fully vaccinated travelers to enter these EU countries is also applicable to third-country nationals. The purpose of the visit could include non-essential travel like tourism.

Let’s examine some of the countries that are exempting fully vaccinated travelers from the COVID-19 restrictions.

France

Fully vaccinated travelers are allowed to visit France even for tourism. These include third-country nationals too. The country accepts vaccinations undertaken with the following vaccines:

  • Janssen
  • AstraZeneca
  • Moderna
  • Pfizer

These vaccines are authorized by the European Medicines Agency.

Finland

The US embassy in Finland states that Finland currently allows travelers from all nations of the world, provided they are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19. The travelers can have taken both doses of any vaccine developed against the COVID-19. They just need to have proof that they are immune and qualified to travel, at least 2 weeks prior to their date of travel.

Spain

Milder entry requirements are applied to travelers during the peak tourist season in Spain. Travelers from third countries are allowed to enter Spain only if they are fully vaccinated with one of the COVID-19 vaccines that have approval in Spain. Travelers must keep valid proof of immunity to travel to Spain.

Portugal

Portugal is also allowing travelers from across the world to enter the country if they are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Germany

Travelers from third countries can travel to Germany if they are vaccinated and immunized against the COVID-19 right from June 2021. Travelers can arrive by any means of transport even for non-essential purposes like tourism.

Travelers must be vaccinated with vaccines approved by EMA. These include:

  • AstraZeneca
  • Moderna
  • Janssen
  • BioNTech/Pfizer

Also, travelers who have been vaccinated using Covishield can enter Germany.

Cyprus

Since May 10, 2021, Cyprus is also permitting entry of international travelers with a vaccination certificate deemed valid. The certificate must show that they have been vaccinated with any one of the following vaccines:

  • BioNTech/Pfizer (Comirnaty)
  • Johnson & Johnson (Janssen)
  • Sinopharm BIBP
  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria)
  • AstraZeneca – Serum Institute of India (Covishield)
  • Moderna (Spikevax)
  • Sinovac (CoronaVac)

Travelers with proof for vaccination are also exempt from quarantine and testing requirements upon entry.

Croatia

Croatia is the first EU country that imposed a maximum period of validity for the COVID-19 vaccination documents. Travelers who have taken the second dose of any approved COVID-19 vaccine as per their certificate that’s older than 210 days will face additional travel restrictions in Croatia. Others can enter the country without restrictions.

Austria

Travelers from around the world who have completed their vaccination can enter Austria. The maximum validity period for vaccination certification documents has been set at 270 days.

Iceland

With a certificate of full vaccination against the COVID-19, travelers from around the world can enter Iceland.

Denmark

Denmark is letting in travelers who have been vaccinated against the COVID-19. The entry restrictions imposed on travelers are based on the COVID-19 situation in the country from where the traveler originates.
