After the two years of inactivity caused by the pandemic, the hospitality sector is moving positively to a higher level in which the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) reported 1.2 million job vacancies across the 27-nation-bloc, which is said to impact the sector’s recovery negatively.
Since the hospitality-tourism sector plays a primary role in the economy of Europe, it has encountered a massive hit from the latest turn arounds, beginning with the United Kingdom leaving the EU, which is also known as Brexit, the pandemic and the most recent, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The pandemic has forced the workers from the hospitality-tourism sector to reconsider their careers by leaving the industry and choosing remote work that has flourished in the recent years.
Simon Naudi, the CEO of Corinthia Hotels, a Maltese company, stated “This industry depends on migrant labor at a certain case, as it is difficult to find individuals who are willing to return to this industry.”
Moreover, making it consistently challenging, the policies like travel restrictions have affected the workers who want to work in the hospitality industry. Although almost all of them have dropped the restrictions, a few remain constant to be reintroduced depending on the situation.

Although the travel comeback across Europe is strong and constantly increasing, the hospitality industry representatives are disappointed with the immigration policies, long visa wait times and the complicated procedures of the country which are making it difficult for the industry to recover.
