FSWP and CEC draws to continue in July
An important announcement was made on April 22 that the Express Entry invitations for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) immigration candidates will continue by early July. Meanwhile, the minister stated that he expects more new Express Entry applications to be processed within a six-month standard of service.
This has been significant news since the Express Entry draws for FSWP applicants were paused in December 2020 and the CEC applicants since September 2021.
The temporary interruption was introduced and implemented the IRCC to process highly skilled applications on the waiting list and reduce the Express Entry backlog, which was aggravated by the pandemic.

According to the IRCC provided figures during the April 22 media briefing, the Express Entry backlog has decreased by more than half since September 2021, to 48,000 by March 2022.
Additionally, the number of permanent resident decisions made in the first half of 2022 has doubled compared to the same period in 2021. The IRCC made 156,000 permanent residents between January 1 and March 31, 2022.
IRCC looks forward to inviting 110,000 immigrants through Express Entry by 2024.
