The new PNP draw invites a total of 589 candidates. As the July intake is near, the government resumes the FSWP and CEC candidates through the PNP draw. On May 25, Canada held a new round of invitations for the draw by inviting 589 Express entry candidates to apply for permanent residence.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) asked only candidates who have already received a provincial nomination and have a high cut-off score. Candidates with a minimum score of 741 were invited to this draw. The Express Entry candidates who already have a Provincial nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will automatically have 600 CRS points get added to their base score.
This new PNP draw was slightly larger and had a lower cut-off score than the last draw. The previous Express Entry draw, which happened early this month, had a minimum CRS score of 759, and IRCC invited 545 PNP candidates only.

FSWP and CEC candidates to resume in July through Express Entry draws
According to Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, “Through Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) programs, Express Entry will invite candidates by this early July. Most New Express Entry applications will be processed within six months”.
Since December 2020, the Express Entry draws for FSWP candidates were paused. The IRCC has paused the draws temporarily for the candidates to allot the resources and reduce the Express Entry backlog, which worsened during the pandemic. The CEC applicants were also put on hold since September 2021. Currently, the processing time for these programs is more than six months as a target for IRCC.

According to IRCC’s statistical data from April, IRCC formed 156000 permanent residence decisions between January 1 and March 31, 2022. Compared to the 2021 data from the same period, this is two times more.
There has been observed a decrease in the number of newcomers who immigrate using the Express Entry pathway in 2022 and 2023. IRCC has planned to welcome more than 110000 immigrants using Express Entry by 2024.

Express Entry is the application management system for Canada. There are three most popular immigration programs:
A points-based system is used by Express Entry, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to give the ranking to a candidate’s profile. The Express Entry pool already has PNP candidates eligible for at least one of these programs. The candidates with top scores will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency ship. When the application is submitted, an IRCC office will review the application and will make a decision. The biometrics are taken and set up an interview or request for more documents.
When the application gets approved, IRCC releases a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). And then, applicants can complete the arrival process. If the applicant is outside Canada, they get a chance to access pre-arrival services to help themselves with the initial steps of settling in Canada.
