Reason for this change:

The Finnish Government took this initiative to streamline Finland's process. The new changes would be more applicable to online rather than paper applications. The Online application for permanent residency will be cheaper and faster than a paper application.

Fee structure initiated by the Finland government:

The application for Permanent residency will cost from €160 to €220 for online applications and €270 for paper applications.

The citizenship application cost would be €490 for online application, up from €460. At the same time, the first resident permit for an employer person will have to pay €540 for online applications instead of €490.

The applicant has to pay €540 instead of €490 for an extended permit, whereas the renewal of the residence permit card will cost €170.

The processing fee for the application will be €60. Without an online application, the processing fees would be €75. Previously, the fee was €54 for both times.

Service point application will cost without online application €75 up from €54. Applicants are advised to review the comprehensive list of processing fees and payments on the Official site.

The Finnish Government also clarified that the fees will remain unchanged for individuals whose application was from 31st December 2023. This ensures that those already applicant processes are going on that won’t be affected by any further changes.

In 2023, the average Finland residency applicant rose to 1400 applicants per week. Even though the number of applicants decreased from last year, it is still considered at a higher level than in 2018-2021.
