Canada to hold STEM category-based Express Entry draw

On July 5, 2023, Canada is going to hold its first round of category-based Express Entry draw selection rounds for STEM professionals. The same was announced by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry (Canada), François-Philippe Champagne.

The draw will emphasize only issuing invitations to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals. The occupations covered under this category are software developers and programmers, data scientists, statisticians and actuaries, electrical and electronic engineers, and mathematicians.

First-Ever Category-based Selection

Canada has already started with its category-based Express Entry draw by inviting healthcare professionals. It held its first-ever category-based draw on June 28, 2023, inviting 500 healthcare workers.
