The French government has updated the list of occupations to address labor shortages, which was published for the first time since 2021. In addition to these occupations, the French authority also revealed a plan that aims to facilitate the pathway for foreigners from these occupations to obtain residence permits.
The data show that France is facing labor shortages across many occupations, with the most significant gaps in hostel restaurants, construction, and home help.

The new changes will benefit the undocumented workers in France, which will regularise the measures to allow them to have an immigration status registered.
If any undocumented skilled workers in France are listed in an occupation with a labor shortage, they will receive a residence permit and will be granted an automatic work permit.
To be eligible, the professional will have to fulfill the eligibility criteria:
*Note: Applicants who have been working for a continuous period are not mandated to provide proof of three years of residency in France and working for one company.
This aim is to secure thousands of migrant workers already involved in the French economy and help them get regularised faster. The Paris-Île-de-France region is one of the primary beneficiaries of this measure, as 30 and 50 percent of foreigners in the area are employed in the hotel and restaurant sector.
