Due to the pandemic, there was only long-stay visas issued in 2021. During the same time, there were increasing asylum applications and decisions taken in France.

According to the statistics, there were few first requests and reconsideration requests for asylum applications.

Based on the 2020 data, the French authorities have issued the first residence permits for 26,466 foreigners based on economic needs. In 2021, France issued 36,095 permits, which increased by +36.4 percent.
