Germany has introduced the Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) that allows non-EU skilled professionals to migrate and look for jobs in the country for up to one year without any job offer. This visa program helps fill labor shortages in the country and offers skilled workers more access to Germany’s job market.

France introduced the Talent Passport Visa as part of the EU Blue Card Scheme, which offers extended residency for skilled professionals. This visa is appropriate for applicants with an employment contract exceeding one year along with a pay scale that is at least 1.5 times (approximately €35,891 annually) more than the average annual income in France. Eligible candidates will receive a residence permit valid for up to four years.
