Germany immigration update: Vaccine certificates’ validity now 270 days

Here’s something to be aware of regarding the vaccine policy that has been adopted recently in Germany. The German authorities have reduced the period of validity of vaccination certificates to 270 days. This is a development in the context of Germany immigration after Germany adhered to a recommendation of the EU Commission regarding the validity of vaccination certificates.

This new rule related to vaccination passes was enforced from February 1, 2022. It affects every person traveling within the EU. The aim of this move was the coordination of travel measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reduced complication of the travel process is another advantage of this move.

So, now people who arrive in Germany as part of Germany immigration or other ways must provide valid proof that shows that they have received their last dose of vaccine (under the 2-dose vaccination scheme) within the last 270 days. This will get them exempted from additional measures enforced during their entry into the country including testing and quarantine.

Individuals who have been vaccinated on a date older than 270 days will be considered unvaccinated upon their arrival in Germany if they haven’t received the booster shot.

Germany has also urged the EU to bring down the validity of recovery certificates to 90 days.
