David Coleman, Immigration Minister, issued a media release yesterday proclaiming the success of the Global Talent Scheme. It has now been renamed as the GTES (Global Talent Employer Sponsored) Program and will become a permanent feature of the Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage) Visa program.
The GTES is a unique labour agreement that attracts high-skilled professionals for jobs that cannot be filled locally. It also caters to those jobs which cannot be filled by any other standard Subclass 482 programs.
There are two streams under the GTES:
18 businesses are listed under the GTES Program. 5 of these businesses come under the Start-up Stream. The rest of them are all MNCs and public companies.

Industry labour agreements are specific labour agreements for specific industries. Each agreement has specific terms and conditions like the kind of occupations available, salary, English requirement etc.

Encouraging company-specific labour agreements
Company-specific labour agreements are negotiated directly between the business in Australia and the Dept. of Home Affairs. These agreements are not as stringent as industry labour agreements. However, the DHA does specify certain minimum standards like salary, occupations available and English requirement, as per SBS News.
