Abstract: The US has reached its H-2B cap of the first half of the fiscal year of 2022.
The USCIS or US Citizenship and Immigration Services has registered sufficient petitions to reach the cap mandated by the US government for H-2B visas. The H-2B visas are aimed at temporary non-agricultural workers.
The cap was for the first half of FY or fiscal year 2023. September 12, 2022, was the last date for the reception for the applications of H-2B applications.

The starting date of employment is before April 1, 2023. USCIS will not be accepting new H-2B applications received after September 12, 2022, requesting an employment start date before April 1, 2023.
The US businesses use the program of H-2B to employ international workers for temporary jobs which are non-agricultural in nature.
At present, the government of the US has fixed the cap for H-2B at 66,000 for every fiscal year. Approximately 33,000 workers begin their employment in the first half of FY 2022. The other 33,000 and any vacant slots from the first half of FY 2022 are for international workers who start their employment in the second half of FY 2022.
