Overview

Following the H-1B receipt issuance at the Vermont Service Center, the visa process administered by the government agency mentioned that some of the workloads were being shifted to the California center. This transfer in workload will support issuing receipt notices for properly filed H-1B petitions at a fast pace.

Response to the delay in H-1B visa process

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will change a few petitions of the H-1B visa procedures to different centers to solve the existing visa backlog.

According to the H-1B receipt issuance at the Vermont Service Center, the visa process administered by the government agency mentioned that some of the workloads were being shifted to the California center. This transfer in workload will support issuing receipt notices for properly filed H-1B petitions at a fast pace.

In the past few months, the visa processing under different categories has been slow-paced because of the shortage of staff and the massive backlog at the service centers.

H-1B Visa Lottery

From October 1, 2022, the selected petitioners from the H-1B visa lottery must submit their applications to become eligible and start working in the United States.

Most of these petitions are to extend visas, and failing to submit; the applicant will no longer be eligible to continue working in the country.

Mia Love, the former US Congresswoman, told a Senate Judiciary Committee that it was unnecessary to expand the number of H-1B visas that were being issued yearly as the program did not keep up with the country's needs.
