• In 2023, Canada set a new immigration record with 471,550 new permanent residents.
• The total number of immigrants invited in 2023 was 1.4% greater than the target set by Ottawa's Immigration Levels Plan. 
• Canada aims to welcome 485,000 permanent residents in 2024, 500,000 in 2025 and 2026.
• According to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, 1.485 million immigrants are expected to enter Canada.

Immigration Stats of Ontario in 2023 :                  

A majority of immigrants preferred Ontario as their top choice of destination in Canada. The province premiered in 2023 by issuing the highest number of PRs to 206,720 immigrants.

Overall Understanding of Immigration in 2023:

Three Canadian provinces saw growth in their immigration rates. Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Yukon witnessed increased immigration, while Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec issued the highest PRs in 2023. 

As per the Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026, Canada plans on welcoming 1.5 Million immigrants by 2026.

 

• Newfoundland and Labrador saw their levels of immigration jump by 56.9 per cent last year compared to 2022.
• Prince Edward Island saw immigration increase by 35.4 per cent in 2023 compared to the previous year.
• Yukon immigration exploded by 95.6 per cent to hit 890 per cent last year over 2022 levels.
