So, how does Express Entry maintain these profiles? EE ranks these profiles using the CRS. The CRS ranks the profiles based on factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills in English/French.

How to apply through Express Entry?

Applying for Canada PR under Express Entry is a 2-step process.

Step 1 is to submit your profile with the Express Entry. The following documents are required for that purpose:

  • A passport or travel document
  • Results of language proficiency test
  • ECA report

Step 2 starts after you are invited to apply for Canada PR via a federal Express Entry draw. Within the 60 days you have to apply, you have to submit many documents such as identity documents, medical test results, police clearance certificates, and reference letters.

How can you be eligible to apply through Express Entry?

The basic requirements for eligibility criteria say that you must have a university or college degree along with moderate proficiency in English/French and work experience.

If you are one who meets these critera, you will qualify for the CEC, FSWP, and FSTP programs. You can also submit an application under the EE program.

Requirements for Express Entry

To apply via Express Entry as a skilled worker, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must have work experience in a continuous full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience of at least a year in the last 10 years, in a skilled occupation
  • You must be able to demonstrate a minimum CLB 7 in an approved language test for English/French
  • You must have completed education at the post-secondary level that's assessed with an ECA against Canadian standards

Just meeting these criteria won’t guarantee that you will receive an ITA for Canada PR.

Time taken for Express Entry process

The application process through Express Entry generally takes under 6 months. This is the period from submitting the Express Entry profile to the issuance of a Canada PR visa.

However, in certain cases, it could take longer for specific reasons.

An Express Entry profile stays active for 12 months. After this period, you can resubmit your profile which will then remain in the Express Entry pool.
