Australia has made a few changes in the post-study work rights for international students. The Australian government has announced an extension of 2 years of post-study work rights for international graduates with certain degrees that have been identified as having skill shortages. The work hours for international students have been increased from 40 to 48 hours for every fortnight. It will financially aid international students during their studies. The restrictions for student visa work in Australia were relaxed during the pandemic. It was removed entirely in January 2022 to facilitate primary and secondary holders of student visas to work for 40 hours per fortnight to help in addressing the workforce shortages. The earlier rules will become ineffective on June 30, 2023, and the revised cap will be implemented on all international students, irrespective of when they began to study in Australia. The holders of a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) are eligible for the post-study work benefits.
