Abstract: The UK government plans to increase the permitted working hours for international students in the country.
The government of the UK plans to extend the permitted working hours for international students in the country. International students in the UK would be allowed to work for an extended time per week and apply for multiple part-time jobs to address shortages in the workforce in various sectors of the country.
Currently, international students in the UK can work for 20 hours per week, but after implementing the proposed changes, they would be able to work for 30 hours per week. 680,000 international students are studying in the UK, presently.

There are 1.3 million job vacancies in the UK, causing a shortage in the workforce.
The British government stated that by removing the cap on the working hours of international students, they would contribute to the economy of the UK. International students constitute approximately 476,000 of the 1.1 million immigrants who arrived in the UK in 2022.
The figures for immigration increased to an estimated number of 504,000 in 2022.
