How to invest in Australia with an investor visa and a plan

When it comes to overseas investments, Australia is a destination to consider. The entrepreneur visa Australia is a ticket to increasing your earnings on investments.    

Australia issues the Business Innovation & Investment (Provincial) visa (Subclass 188). The visa lets you own and manage a business in Australia. You can conduct business and investment activity in Australia with this visa. You may even indulge in entrepreneurship.   

There are several streams for the business investment visa. 

Business Innovation stream 

Do you have business skills? Do you want to run a business in Australia? Then the Business Innovation stream of the investor visa is the one you need to apply in. The visa requires you to operate a new or existing business in Australia. To be eligible for this visa stream, you must receive nomination by an Australian state or territory government agency.   

With this visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years 3 months. 

Features 

To be eligible for this visa, you must 

• Score at least 65 points 
• Provide proof of business success viz. annual turnover and ownership stake 
• Yourself, your partner, or together, have a total net business & personal asset of at least AUD 800,000 

You can in time apply for a Business Innovation & Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) Business Innovation stream. 

Entrepreneur stream 

With this provisional visa, you can carry out entrepreneurial activities in Australia. This visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 4 years and 3 months. In this period, you can even bring eligible members of your family to Australia. You can also apply for a Business Innovation & Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) Business Innovation stream. But such an application is subject to conditions. 

Features 

To enter this stream, you must 

• Undertake/propose to undertake business activity in Australia 
• Have an agreement for funding  of a minimum of AUD 200,000  
• Present a business plan 
• Have basic competent English 

Investor stream 

This stream invites investors who can invest AUD 1.5 million or more in Australian territory or state. As an investor, you must also maintain investment or business activity in Australia. It is also necessary that you receive a nomination by the government agency of an Australian state or territory.  

With this visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years 3 months. 

Significant investor stream 

This is a provisional visa for those who invest AUD 5 million or more in Australia. Their Australian investments need to meet certain requirements. They should maintain investment activity in Australia.   

With this visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years 3 months. 

Premium investor stream 

This is a visa for those nominated by Austrade. It is provisional in nature. They should invest AUD 15 million or more in Australia. They can invest in Australian investments and/or philanthropic contributions.   

With this visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years 3 months.   

Besides these, there are extension streams. These are the Business Innovation Extension stream and the Significant Investor Extension stream. These enable the investor to extend their respective streams to prolong their stay in Australia for 2 and 4 years respectively.
