There are 300,000 more Canada citizens to be created in the fiscal year 2022-23 as per the current plans of IRCC. After overcoming the situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada is coming back on track to achieve what was impossible during the times of distress in the 2020-21 year.
As opposed to how citizenship was granted during the pandemic period, this fiscal year, Canada citizenship will be granted with procedural interviews and an oath-taking ceremony. The oath-taking ceremony could be either virtual or in person.

Another reality is that there has been a significant rise in the number of applications lodged online in the last couple of years. These online applications came to 413,000 by June 2021. These applications of which processing is pending have created backlogs too, which Canada is determined to clear. To realize this goal, IRCC has appointed 1,000 new members of staff.
IRCC is aiming at granting Canada citizenship to 300,000 applicants by March 31, 2023. The Operations Performance Division of IRCC has recommended in a memo that IRCC does the processing of 285,000 decisions on citizenship applications and creates 300,000 new citizens by the end of the fiscal year 2022-23.

What’s more, minors aged under 18 years will be granted the eligibility to file applications for Canada citizenship. They can do it online by the end of 2022.
