Need for international professionals in Canadian tourism

The Immigration Minister of Canada, Sean Fraser, stated that the Canadian government is helping international youth to travel and work in Canada, by helping employers in the tourism industry find the skilled professionals they require. They provide opportunities to the youth in the international travel and work sector. It will help in the strengthening of the economy and boost businesses.

The amended IEC program allows Canada to enhance the highly in-demand goals, that is:

  • Help employers in Canada get the professionals they require
  • Help the youth explore new languages, cultures, and societies
  • Develop life skills
  • Improve job prospects for the future

About the IEC program

The IEC program has 3 streams. The details are given below.

Working Holiday

The participants of IEC in this stream receive an open work permit that facilitates them to work anywhere in the country which acts as a host to support their travels.

International Co-op (Internship)

The participants of this specific IEC stream are offered an employer-specific work permit. The targeted work permit facilitates international students to gain work experience in their chosen field of study.

Young Professionals

The candidates in this stream receive an employer-specific work permit, similar to the international co-op stream. The students acquire targeted work experience which falls under their field of study.  The experience gained by these students is aimed at enhancing their skills to pursue their desired career paths.
