Abstract: IRCC will be investing approximately 1.1 million CAD for Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot to boost the participation of women in the tech sector.

Canada aims to boost the participation of women immigrants in the country's tech sector. It plans to invest 1.1 million CAD for the RNWP or Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot program to attract more immigrant women to participate in the Canadian IT sector.

The pilot program is of two years. One of the organizations facilitating the program is the Vancouver YWCA.

What should you know about RNWP for Tech Jobs in Canada?

The Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot program will help streamline the job seeking process for minority women. The pilot program will offer suitable employment to eligible candidates according to their skills and experience.

The RNWP has already received funding of 15 million CAD since 2021.

The organizations offering the facilities to address the barriers faced by racialized women immigrants, such as racial and gender discrimination, unstable employment, and inadequate childcare.

The RNWP was earlier known as the Visible Minority Newcomer Women Pilot. It aims to aid immigrant minority women to find jobs in the IT sector by:

  • Reinforcing relationships with non-traditional recipients and organizations to formulate new approaches to boost job opportunities for immigrant women.
  • Assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of job-related services for minority newcomer women under the current service delivery.
  • According to data from Statistics Canada, foreign national women had trouble sustaining their employment during the pandemic, the program will help immigrant women find employment.

Women from 128 Countries benefited from RNWP Services

During FY 2019-2020, over 2,500 foreign national women who had migrated from 128 countries took part in RNWP activities. Most of the participants were in the age group of 25 to 54 years old. They were living in Canada for at most 5 years.

The RNWP program is mutually beneficial for immigrant women as well as the economy of Canada.

The 1.1 million CAD funding announced recently is additional funding to the pilot program 31.9 million CAD committed by the Canadian authorities in 2018.
