Highlights:

  • Express Entry invitations for the FSWP, FSTP, and CEC candidates will continue by July.
  • The processing time of the new Express Entry applications is six months. According to IRCC, the present processing times of the Express Entry ranges from seven months to more than 20 months.
  • The applicants will not have to stay in Canada through the processing time of their application.
  • The Applicants who, alongside, apply for an open work permit while waiting for their permanent residence application will receive work permits that are applicable until the end of 2024.
  • The immediate family members included in the principal applicant’s permanent residence application and are outside of Canada will be eligible to possess their open work permit.

IRCC: Ready to process more applications

The IRCC states that the Express Entry backlog was eliminated for more than half, from 112,000 individuals in September 2021 to 48,000 in March 2022. It has become twice the number of the decisions made for the permanent resident in the first half of 2022 related to the same period in 2021. IRCC has decided on 156,000 permanent residents from January 1 through March 31, 2022. In addition to that, IRCC has looked into more than 100,000 work permit applications in the first half of 2022 compared to 58,000 in the same time last year.
